Life Drawing with Sahoko Blake

Sahoko gives us a summing up of our work.

We had a brilliant weekend in the beautiful setting of Newtown Barry House in Bunclody, Co. Wexford, with distinguished Artist Sahoko Blake.  It was an intensive 3 day drawing course, where we experimented with drawing with paint.  The drawn paintings were done in three stages.  The first stage was a loose structural line done with pale-coloured paint.  The second stage was to block in the muscular structure with a stronger colour, and the third stage was to pull the first two stages together with line.  It was a fascinating process where I could relish the layering process that I love to do with watercolour and mixed media.  Thank you Sahoko for such an inspiring weekend.  Thanks also must go to Alice and Clody Norton who organized the course and looked after us all so well!
Some of the paintings produced that weekend.  Our model was a local girl called Catherine.

Some of our group who took the course - from left, Mary Duffy, Lelia Henry, Gill  Gillesspe and Anne Lowan.
